An Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in Government is a stepping-stone to a liberal arts education. The second step is a bachelor’s degree from a college or university. The Government Program features introductory courses in political science and American and Texas politics. The courses emphasize contemporary political analysis, critical thinking, and hands-on experiential learning exercises.

Career Opportunities

A major in government provides an excellent background for law school, a career in education, or a broad background in the liberal arts which is valued by employers in all areas.
