Graduation

Collin offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Applied Science degrees and certificate programs.  Students who plan to graduate from Collin should request a degree plan  prior to the completion of 30 credit hours.  Students must be currently admitted to Collin to request a degree plan.  Students may graduate under any of the college's catalogs from the preceding five years as long as the student was enrolled under that catalog; however, students may benefit from graduation under the requirements of the most recent catalog.

Students must complete a "Request for a Degree Plan"  and a "Petition for Degree/ Certificate" prior to petitioning for graduation.

Honors

Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching, Associate of Science, or Associate of Applied Science degree honors will be awarded to students with the following cumulative grade point average (GPA).

 

Honors

4.00 Summa Cum Laude
3.75  -  3.99 Magna Cum Laude
3.50  -  3.74   Cum Laude
 

Graduation GPA is calculated using all Collin college-level course work and transfer courses from other accredited colleges or universities.   To be eligible for graduation honors, students must complete 30 hours at Collin.


Ceremony

Collin's graduation ceremony is held each year in May.  August and December graduates from the previous year are invited to participate in this ceremony.  Students who will complete their requirements (no more than six hours) the next summer, can also participate in the ceremony pending registration in the necessary courses prior to the graduation ceremony.

All candidates will receive their diplomas through the mail after completion of degree requirements is certified. If you are a Spring Graduate, diplomas will be mailed by mid-June; if you are a Summer Graduate, diplomas will be mailed by late September.
