Johnny
Robertson recieved his MFA from The
University of North Texas in 1998, and shortly after was acknowledged as
a local talent in a number of juried exhibitions including Expo ’99
(Rick Brettell, Dallas Museum of Art, University of Texas Dallas), New
American Talent (Dominic Molon, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago),
and New American Paintings (Michael Auping, Modern Art Museum Fort
Worth). His work has received critical acknowledgement in traveling
exhibitions like Going West, curated by Erin Keever, and in 2000
he received the Dozier Travel Grant allowing him to record his travels
between Texas and California and explore both the mythic and iconic
aspects of the Western landscape.
Robertson has maintained a
presence in the Texas art community by not only exhibiting his
paintings, but also regularly contributing essays, reviews and criticism
to art publications like Artlies and Glasstire.com. He has
performed workshops and lectures at area Museums and has work in many
important collections including American Airlines, Texas Christian
University, and The Hiatt Regency. Commercial galleries in New York, Los
Angeles, Boston, Houston and Dallas represent him. |
