President's Welcome

Welcome to Collin County Community College District!

As the only public college or university in Collin County, we are proud to serve our community and our students by fostering a scholarly community. Whether you are interested in a certificate or an associate’s degree, transferring to a university or training to advance your career, Collin has something for you.

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the opportunities for Learning, Service & Involvement, Creativity & Innovation, Academic Excellence, Dignity & Respect and Integrity that the college fosters through its programs and services.

Learning – Our programs provide you with affordable, small classes and professors who are dedicated to teaching the foundation for success. Through our Weekend College program, students have the flexibility to take a full load of classes on the weekend, shortening the time to complete a degree. Collin was the first community college in the state of Texas to offer special university partnerships. University partners include University of North Texas, The University of Texas-Dallas, Southern Methodist University, Texas Tech University, Texas Woman's University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas A&M University and Baylor University.

Service & Involvement – Students can get actively involved in the college. Several opportunities include the Honors Institute, Learning Communities, Phi Theta Kappa, Psi Beta, Sigma Delta Kappa, Student Government Association and Service Learning.

Creativity & Innovation – Collin is a college of firsts. The Alternative Teacher Certification program is the first of its kind in the nation, and the Student Leadership Academy was the first to be launched at a community college in Texas. In addition to academic programs, the college offers a host of notable visitors and scholars.

Academic Excellence – Collin’s award-winning professors provide the keys to excellence in the classroom. The faculty includes a U.S. Professor of the Year, a Texas Professor of the Year, four Minnie Stevens Piper Professors and a Fulbright Scholar. Four workforce education programs at Collin--nursing, dental hygiene, real estate and child development--have been designated as exemplary by the state of Texas, an honor received by fewer than five percent statewide. In 2001, our Service Learning and Learning Communities programs received the prestigious Bellwether Award.

At Collin, nothing is more important than the experience of each student. We look forward to showing you how Collin is a smart move for your academic future.

- President Cary A. Israel
