Other Instructor Spotlights:

Christy Axford

It’s amazing how a few additional skills can help you speed through a project that used to take you days to finish.

There’s no better person to teach Microsoft Office Suite than someone that actually worked for Microsoft.

That’s the type of instruction Christy Axford offers as an instructor in Collin College’s Continuing Education classes. The Plano resident knows Microsoft well – part of her dozen or so years of experience in marketing and software training are four years working for the technology giant in Irving.

“I am able to answer some of the ‘behind-the-scenes’ software questions that students may have,” Axford said. “I also have a heavy background in marketing for small businesses so I really understand the need for efficient usage of products. It’s amazing how a few additional skills can help you speed through a project that used to take you days to finish.”

Her knowledge spans Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook – all pillars of the business world and all programs successful professionals must be able to use with at least some level of deftness.

Certainly, deconstructing these programs in every class hones Axford’s Microsoft acumen when she’s faced with the tough questions, and this instructor is quick to find the answers.

“I really enjoy using the gifts I have been given to help others develop their skills,” Axford said. “Selfishly, it also helps me stay on top of my own computer skills. When I get unusual questions, it gives me an opportunity to research, and, at the end of a class, I feel like I’ve learned as much as my students have.”
