Alastair Hunte brings real-world experience and knowledge into Collin College classrooms.
Hunte worked as a web developer until 1999. In 2000, he started his own business and became CEO of Presario Productions, a Dallas-based Internet technology, image and marketing consultation company that specializes in helping small businesses, large corporations and non-profit organizations brand themselves effectively using the World Wide Web.
It’s his experience and know-how that makes him a respected continuing education instructor whether teaching Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks or other web development classes. But it’s the value of helping others develop skills that drives him.
“If I can help a student avoid some of the pitfalls and errors I have made in my nine years of being in the industry, it puts me one step closer to achieving this mission of helping others,” Hunte said. “Teaching also brings me joy when a former student e-mails me to tell about their success based on what they learned in class.”
Working within the arena of the Internet is not easy. Technology is always changing. Therefore, those working under that umbrella must change, too. Hunte said there are a variety of students in his classes: those seeking a promotion, those exploring new career paths, others freshening up their skills and still others preparing to take credit courses for a degree.
“Especially in the world of Internet technology, everything is constantly changing. I am constantly learning things from both my mentors in the industry and students in my class, which challenges me to continue to find new ways to seek education,” Hunte said. “Taking this same concept into everyday life allows you to grow both intellectually and spiritually.”
