Ceramics I

Description:
A class for the novice potter. Learn to throw on the wheel, build slab pots and glaze. All methods taught are hand built and thrown. Make boxes, bowls, cups, and vases. Supply fee of $50 due to instructor first night of class for pottery supplies and kiln firing. Some pottery tools are recommended - will be discussed first night of class.

Drawing I

Description:
Learning to see and draw in detail is the focus of this course. You will cover basic dry art media with some ink pen, while producing freehand drawings. Three-dimensional renderings will be explored while capturing the environment around us. Color will be used as an added detail within the drawn composition. Emphasis will be on tools, technique, drawing elements, proportion and drawing composition. Beginners and intermediate students welcome.

Description:
A continuation from Drawing I, including outdoor drawing as weather permits, covering one and two point perspective of buildings and walkways; trees, shrubbery, and patios. Indoor work will include colored pencil renderings.

Description:
Create at least two drawings using whatever media you enjoy. Your work can be contemporary or traditional. Class is created for beginners or advanced students. A critique will follow each assignment.

Oil or Acrylic Painting I

Description:
Basic media materials and techniques used for painting will be introduced. The instructor will give class demonstrations and individual instruction. Painting skills, visual expression and personal style are encouraged through observation, and application. This course is designed to provide instruction for the beginning to the advanced student. Choose one media only: oil, acrylics or water-based oils.

Description:
Learn how to paint via the genre of still life. The focus will be on all depictions from abstract to realistic. Instructor demonstrations will be in watercolor but you may use whatever wet or dry medium you desire. All levels of ability are welcome.

Description:
The focus of this course will be COLOR. Learn how the shade, tint and value of color can distinctly change the very same painting from somber to exhilarating. Create expressive watercolor pieces using traditional techniques under the watchful eye of the instructor.
