Resources - Writing Center

50. I have been out of school for several years. What resources are available if I have difficulty in my English class?

50. Many students at CCCCD are adults returning to college after time spent in the military, in the home, or in the business world. Returning adults are often the most motivated students in the classroom, yet they worry about encountering difficulty especially in completing writing assignments. The Writing Center is the single most important resource for anyone having difficulty with any part of the writing process. Consultants with degrees in English are available on all three primary campuses to help students. Also, distance writing tutors are available for students who have difficulty getting to campus for a private on-site session with a writing consultant. Visit the Writing Center web page for more information.

51. What specific help with a paper does the Writing Center provide?

51. The Writing Center offers specific help and instruction in all aspects of the writing process. See the Writing Center web page for the kinds of help a student can expect. If the schedule permits, students may make appointments for up to two forty-five-minute sessions per week.

52. Is Writing Center help available online or by e-mail?

52. Writing Center Online Tutors are available to students enrolled in a CCCCD class. Essays are submitted as MS Word documents and e-mailed to the Writing Center for a review (usually within forty-eight hours.) See the Writing Center web page for specific information about how to submit an essay for review.
