Honors Institute

The Path to Excellence

Created for students seeking an academic challenge, the CCCCD Honors Institute combines stimulating courses, exciting class projects and professors dedicated to creating a rigorous course of study.

The Honors Institute offers you more than just the opportunity to fulfill your academic potential.  When you complete 12 or more hours of honors courses in two academic areas, you will earn a CCCCD honors degree, which can lead to greater academic opportunities.  With an honor's degree, you will receive more favorable standing with colleges and universities recruiting CCCCD students, additional consideration for enrollment in a four-year honors program and scholarship opportunities not available to traditional students.

Honors courses are open to students who meet one or more of the following requirements:

  • Are recommended by a CCCCD professor

  • Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA

  • Have completed high school advanced placement (AP) courses

  • Motivated adults returning to college after several years outside the classroom
