What’s New at the Library

Notice to Community Users

The Collin College Libraries regret that, due to coming changes in the college's technology environment, we can no longer provide computer logins for individuals who are not faculty, staff, or currently-enrolled students of the college. This change is effective June 1, 2008.

The Libraries continue to welcome community members and to offer the following library services to members of the community:

  • Remote and onsite online library catalog
  • Loan of items from circulating collections
  • Research assistance
  • Wireless laptop connectivity

New and Online

Doing research on elections? Historical Statistics of the United States covers voter turnout since 1824, Electoral College voting since 1789, and many more statistics about the United States to enliven your paper or presentation. Informative essays discuss how to interpret each group of statistics.

Find Historical Statistics of the United States on Collin Libraries’ home page under Find Articles and then History and Biography. Due to licensing restrictions, Historical Statistics of the United States is available only to Collin College faculty, staff, and students.

Challenge Your Mind. Infuse Your Soul.

The Collin College Distinguished Speaker Series and the Book in Common are two incredible programs you won't want to miss. Visit the Collin libraries for companion materials on display and related books to check out.

The Collin College Distinguished Speaker Series invites distinguished and noted individuals from across the country to engage in a year-long, college-wide conversation addressing current research and topics of interest. Additional speaker resources are available from the Collin College libraries.

Book in Common, the second excellent program, involves 3,000 Collin College students and a single book, First They Killed my Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers. The site presents the program's calendar of events, a cross-discipline teaching guide, and information on this year's author -- the best-selling author/activist Loung Ung. For those interested in learning more on the topics addressed in the book, the site also includes a list of relevant books available through Collin College libraries.
