More and more men and women are breaking ground in disciplines and careers that, in the past, have not been considered a “male” or “female” area. Those who chose a nontraditional career succeed at the same level of the traditional gender as more males enter nursing programs and females become firefighters or enter the technological field, according to a number of published reports. A nontraditional program is a program or occupation with less than 25 percent participating from one gender.
