Nontraditional Occupations & Programs

Dental Hygienist Dennis Garcia Breaks the Gender Barrier

Traditional gender barriers should not be an issue when it comes to choosing the right career for you. More and more men and women are breaking ground in disciplines and careers that, in the past, have not been considered a “male” or “female” area. Those who chose a nontraditional career succeed at the same level of the traditional gender as more males enter nursing programs and females become firefighters or enter the technological field, according to a number of published reports. A nontraditional program is a program or occupation with less than 25 percent participating from one gender.
