At Collin County Community College District, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs establish an excellent foundation for careers in emergency medicine and other related healthcare fields. The EMS program at CCCCD combines state-of-the-art technology with top-notch instructors to ensure that students perform with confidence and success in a variety of emergency situations.

Available under the umbrella of Emergency Medical Services is Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training. This training prepares students to take the Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) certification exam offered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

What is an Emergency Medical Technician?

When someone calls 911, Med Techs or EMTs are the typical first responders. EMTs provide basic medical services to sick and injured patients wherever they may be and transport them to a hospital for rapid diagnosis and treatment. Their efforts at the scene and on the road can mean the difference between life or death.

What kind of job could I get as an EMT?

According to the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, most career EMTs work in metropolitan areas. They work for fire departments, private or public ambulance services, other medical services or hospitals. EMTs work closely with paramedics and firefighters to lend support in patient care.
