REQUIREMENTS:

The following are requirements to enter the Emergency Medical Technician training program.

  • high school diploma or GED
  • 18 years or older
  • completion of program application
  • complete CCCCD reading & mathematics assessment tests
  • certified as American Heart Association CPR for health care provider, or Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer
  • personal interview
  • immunizations *
  • drug screening
  • criminal history check
  • current National Registry or EMT-Basic level certification
  • PSB-Health Occupations Aptitude Examination

The PSB Exam for Allied Health Professions includes five areas: Academic Aptitude, Spelling, Reading Comprehension, Natural Science and Vocational Adjustment.  The exam is given in the Testing Center at the Central Park Campus.  Allow three hours to take this exam.  There is a $15.00 non-refundable fee for this examination.  Registration and payment is made on a "first come - first serve" basis and can be done in the Health Science division office (E302) at the Central Park Campus in McKinney, M-F, 8 am - 5 pm.  Payment can be made by cash, check or money order. No credit cards. You may contact the division office at 972.548.6679 for directions to the campus or with questions.

Health Insurance - All Emergency Medical Services students are required to show proof of health insurance prior to starting clinical rotations each semester. Students in need of health insurance may contact their choice of insurance providers, or any of the providers on the enclosed list. (click here for list)
