Fire Investigator

8:30am to 5:30pm
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

This 160 hour course includes introduction to the investigation of fires and explosions of known and unknown origin, including investigative techniques, collection and preservation of evidence, case preparation and presentation, point-of-origin, and arson law.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will take the Texas Commission on Fire Protection state certification exam for Fire Investigator. During the course, students will attend classes 8:30am - 5:30pm on class days at the McKinney Campus

Inspector I & II
Plan Examiner I

Spring 2009

8:30am to 5:30pm
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

The Fire Inspector I and II and Plan Examiner I courses will prepare students to perform fire inspections with the purpose of limiting the risk of life and property loss by recognizing fire and safety hazards early. The students will be able to perform detailed fire inspections and recommend corrective actions. Upon successful completion of this course, students will take the state certification exam for Basic Fire Inspector I & II and Plan Examiner I.

Course Fee: $445.00

The Plan Examiner I section is also available to those already certified as a Fire Inspector.

Driver/Operator

Summer 2009

8:30am to 5:30pm
Monday - Friday

This 80 hour course focuses on the skills necessary for effective fire apparatus operation. Course topics include pump theory, fire service hydraulics, apparatus inspections, driving practices, and pump operations.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will take the Texas Commission on Fire Protection state certification exam for Driver/Operator. During the course, students will attend classes 8:30am - 5:30pm at the Fire Rescue Training Complex on the CCCC campus in McKinney.  Students must currently hold TCFP Basic Firefighter certification, valid driver's license, and provide complete bunker gear.
