This 72 hour course
focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the minimum job
performance requirements of a first responder as defined by the United
States Department of Transportation’s (DOT) National Standard
Curriculum. This course is designed for fire service and law
enforcement personnel. Upon
successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to
take the National Registry Exam for First Responder. Text book
required for all students.
Course Fee: $165.00
Excellence Funds will apply to course fees, but not to textbook
charges.

This
16 hour course is designed to teach the Incident Management System (IMS).
this model system was developed by the National Fire Service Incident Management System
Consortium. It combines command strategy with organizational procedures and is
designed to be used primarily for structure fire incidents using up to 25 fire companies.
The model reflects elements of the California FIRESCOPE Incident
Command System and
the Phoenix Fire ground Command System.
The adoption and use of the Incident Command System contained in the
curriculum will allow fire departments to meet the NFPA standards and the US Code of
Federal Regulation requirements.

Module One
Emergency Apparatus Driving

This 12 hour module in the series covers the theory and skills of safe
emergency apparatus driving practices from the IFSTA Driver/Operator Handbook.
Driving skills will be conducted at the Saturday class. Departments may use their
apparatus for the driving skills. Classes will meet at the Fire Training Complex.

This 16 hour module is second in the series and covers basic pump theory and operational skills from the IFSTA
Driver/Operator Handbook. Hands-on skills
reinforcing the students
confidence in their ability to supply firefighting streams necessary for effective fire
attack will be administered at the Saturday class. Classes will meet at the Fire Training
Complex. (Pre-requisite:
Driver/Operator Module One - Emergency Apparatus Driving)

This 16
hour module is the third module in the series
and covers the
theory and skills of advanced operational skills from the IFSTA Driver/Operator Handbook. Students
learn pumping multiple lines, developing master streams and relay operations. Hands-on
practices during the Saturday class challenge the student in their ability to establish
water supplies, and generate adequate fire flows for a variety of fire ground
applications. Classes will meet at
the Fire Training Complex. (Pre-requisite:
Driver/Operator Module Two- Pump Operation Basic)
