Can our students get job experience?
Yes! Students can participate in job-shadowing, such as Spring to Work or Groundhog Job Shadow Day. These give students opportunities to visit businesses and industry sites and get some direct first-hand experience. We suggest that you visit www.jobshadow.org or contact the Global EDGE Assistant Director to help you get started. If you have any questions at all, contact us--we will be happy to assist you in any way we can!
What information do you have on the area job market?
The best source of information we have on the job market in the greater Dallas metropolitan area is through
North Central Texas InterLink --a regional nonprofit alliance of businesses, education, and the government, that provides up-to-date information on the education and training needs of employers and employees.
What is the Counselors' Network?
The Texas Counselors' Network was developed as a forum for networking, information sharing and staff development for elementary, middle/junior high school, high school, and college and service entity counselors.
Your local Counselors' Network activities are coordinated and funded by the Global EDGE and led by a committee of counselors.
What does this committee do?
• Determine priority topics of discussion
• Plan counselor-focused staff development sessions
• Provide information on current issues and initiatives
• Secure speakers for professional development
• Provide opportunities to earn LPC & CEU credits
• Meets twice during the school year - most committee work is completed via e-mail
Who is on the Counselors’ Network Committee?
Committee Members reflect all levels of counselors in education in the local consortium.
