Can Tech Prep students go to a four-year college?

Absolutely!

Are Tech Prep credits transferable to four-year colleges?

Many colleges recognize Tech Prep credits. The University of North Texas readily recognizes all Tech Prep credits, as well as the University of Texas at Arlington through the Texas Two-Step Project. Once a student has earned an associate degree, they may be more appealing to the four-year College or University, especially since they have proven their success.

Why do students need to formally ask for Tech Prep credits? Can't they be automatically posted on their transcript?

The transcript is a legal document, and as such requires student permission to add or affix Tech Prep credits and grades after high school graduation. Students must complete 6 credits at the college after that they can petition for their Tech Prep credits. Once the petition has been processed, the "A" or "B" received in high school will appear on the college transcript and will be averaged into the college GPA.

How are Tech Prep students identified?

When the student takes a Tech Prep course and completes the Global EDGE registration process online, the student is entered into a database. Upon high school graduation, the student will receive an identification card with a listing of all the Tech prep courses taken in high school. Presentation of that card to the college will facilitate the identification of the Tech Prep student.
