The HIT degree program is pending accreditation review by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education. With the rise of online education in health-care programs, there is no need to quit your day job. In fact, learning the new skills may improve your current work performance. Earning an online degree is an increasingly popular avenue for you to boost your skills, career, earnings and ultimately your job satisfaction. If you have an interest in healthcare and information technology, health information management (HIT) may be the right career choice for you. As one of the fastest growing occupations in one of the fastest growing industries, a HIT career places you right where the expanding arena of healthcare meets the cutting edge of technology. Students must have instructor permission to enroll in cooperative education and must meet all requirements of external clinical facilities participating in the program. These requirements include drug screens, background checks, selected immunizations and proof of personal health insurance. Students who think they may need functional accommodation are encouraged to contact the college ACCESS department as soon as this program is of interest. Students interested in the program should see an academic advisor for consultation and consult the college web site for more specific information. The Program Director should be contacted to construct a degree plan as soon as the program is of interest.

Credit by exam may be attempted only once for any given course. Students currently enrolled in the course they wish to test out of must test or withdraw prior to the census date of the enrolled semester. The student must score at or above 70 percent to receive credit for the course. Some credit by exam may require a portfolio review.
