History Forum meetings--open to any
interested student and faculty--are characterized by high-spirited
exchanges where students feel free to challenge faculty members and
faculty members challenge each other. The
History Forum meets
monthly to discuss historical
questions and topics selected by the forum. The History Forum has been in existence for approximately
six years, the brainchild of Dr. Joan Jenkins, faculty sponsor and
agent provocateuse. Please contact
Dr.
Jenkins here to be included on the
History Forum meeting notification email list. Students pick the topics for History Forum
meetings. Faculty bring snacks and soft drinks. There
are no tests, ever. How good can it get?
Recent discussion topics have included:
"What Will History Say About the Election of 2008?"
"What if the South had Won the Civil War?"
"The United States and the Middle East"
"The United States and Immigration"
"Who WAS The Worst President of All Time?"
"Weird Presidential
Elections"
Think those are too tame? Come up with
your own edgy topic and have fellow students and
faculty gawking in astonished admiration. |
