About the ART

Opening Page:

Vicki Leland, a local Dallas artist, paints designs and masks from Pacific Northwest Coast Indian mythology. The Atlakim mask found on the opening page belongs to Mindi Bailey. Atlakim masks are worn for the Atlakim Dance where over forty characters receive and display forest treasure or gifts.

Faculty Page Masks:

• Most of the masks on this page are from the Corel Big Book of Photographs, which is an extensive collection of copyright free images available on practically any topic.
• There are also several images of African masks taken from Perspectives: Angles on African Art by William Rubin.
