    Applying for a Library Card

    • Faculty and staff must present a Collin Faculty or Staff ID at the Library Check Out Desk and fill out a library card application form.
    • Note: New faculty and staff must show verification of Collin employment at the Check Out Desk if library materials are needed prior to the issuance of a Faculty or Staff ID.
    • Currently enrolled Collin students must present a Student ID at the Library Check Out Desk and fill out a library card application form.
    • Residents of Collin County age 18 and over must show proof of residence (such as valid driver's license) at the Library Check Out Desk.
    • Residents ages 16 to 18 may receive a provisional card that allows three books to be checked out at a time. Proof of residence and a driver's license or other government-issued picture ID must be presented at the Check Out Desk.

    Check Out

    • A library card is required for all transactions.
    • Patrons with outstanding library fines or fees are not eligible to check out materials.
    • Books, books on tape and CD, music CDs, and software check out for 3 weeks.
    • Circulating videos and DVDs check out for 2 days.
    • Classroom materials such as videos, DVDs, software, and CDs are available for in-library use by students. Faculty may check out instructional media for classroom use for 4 days.
    • Math videos check out for 2 days.
    • Return materials to any Library or to outside drop-boxes at SCC, CPC, and PRC.

    To assure availabiltiy of materials as our enrollment increases, the following limits are set in our integrated library system:

    Renewals

    • A library card is required for all transactions.
    • Students, faculty and staff can renew Books, CDs, audios, and software three times provided there are no holds on the material. Community members can renew one time if there are no holds on the material.
    • Overdue materials may not be renewed online or by phone.

    • Videos and DVDs may not be renewed by phone or online.

    Late Fees

    • Books, CDs, audios and software - $0.25 / day
    • Videos and DVDs - $1.00 / day
    • Math Videos - $1.00/ day

    Reserve Materials

    • Reserve materials such as books, videos and other materials assigned for classes are available to students only at the Check Out Desk.
    • Check out time varies by campus and course.
    • Electronic Reserves (ERes) are available via CougarWeb
