The libraries offer course reserve collections at
each Library. Materials can either be in physical or electronic based format (EReserves).
Reserve material may include: instructor created materials, public domain documents,
material owned by the Library (excluding media) or materials owned by the
instructor. Examples include chapters from books, articles from periodicals or
newspapers, short stories, short essays, charts, graphs, diagrams, drawings,
cartoons, pictures or any print material for which permission of the copyright holder can be documented.

A loan or copy of material not owned by CCCCD libraries
may be requested through the Interlibrary Loan service. CCCCD faculty,
staff, and students must have a valid CCCCD library card to request
interlibrary loan services. The libraries are unable to accept requests
from community members. Check the library's catalog and list of periodical
holdings to be sure we do not own the item before making your request.
Allow 14 days for processing interlibrary loan requests. Although you may
submit as many requests at one time as you wish, only five will be
processed per day per person.

The professional staff of the Library encourage faculty to request assistance for
information and/or presentations that will enable students to achieve better results
in their coursework-based assignments and projects.
In general, the professional staff of the Library provides three types of formal
instructional assistance.
- Brief in-library use orientation to the
collection, available services, and its automated features - a quick
introduction to the what, where, and how of the library's resources.
This orientation requires approximately 30 minutes.
- An in-depth
in-library use orientation to the collection, available services, and
its automated features, concentrating on how information comes packaged
and the pertinent access techniques used to retrieve it most
efficiently. This presentation may be tailored to concentrate on the
library's on-line databases and search techniques. This orientation
requires approximately 1 hour or longer, depending on the depth of the
database instruction desired.
- Subject resource
instruction tailored to specific course objectives. This presentation
provides an introduction to the library resources that support specific
course objectives, recommendations on selection and use, and tips on
strategies for supplementing standard information access techniques.
Depending on the field and depth of presentation desired, these
presentations require 45 minutes to 1 hour.
In order to provide better service tailored to each course setting, we are requesting
faculty members to submit their orientation requests with as much lead time as
possible; one week in advance of the desired instruction date is
preferred. The Library Orientation Request Forms may be obtained at the
reference desk in the Library on each campus.
You can also schedule your
orientation or subject resource class online. A
librarian will e-mail you a confirmation within 48 hours.
Subject liaison librarians look forward to working with faculty to meet the academic needs
of the student. For additional information please contact the reference
desk at each campus.
