Audio Engineering Class Interviews Spring 2008
Interviews for Spring 2008 Audio Engineering classes will be held
Friday, December 7, from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon, Spring Creek Campus room B187
Online application must be filled out in advance. It will be available November 1 at this website.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q1:
Do I
need an appointment?
A1: No. You can interview whenever you arrive and plan on staying for about 20 minutes.
Q2:
Should I prepare or bring anything?
A2: No. You will fill out a short questionairre regarding your
education, experience, and goals; then you will have a short interview
with a professor.
Q3:
Why are interviews necessary?
A3: We typically have 40-50 students interview, but only 14 seats
per class. Sometimes students will enroll in a class without
understanding the nature of the course. These students will take
up a seat in the class, then drop the class after a few weeks, thereby
preventing another student from taking the course. Because we
have limited seating, we try to make sure that everyone who enrolls is
serious and thoughtful about the course content.
Q4:
What if I'm preparing to take Audio III and IV? Do I still need
to interview?
A4: Yes! All students must interview for Audio
classes. And obviously, you must pass Audio I and II to take
Audio III and IV.
Q5:
What if I don't get in a class? Should I call or email?
A5: If you are not selected for a class, you may
re-audition the
following semester. Please do not call or email.
Q6:
If I get in a class, when do I enroll?
A6: If you are selected for a class, you will be issued a permit
for the course. You can then enroll and pay at your convenience.
Q7:
While I'm waiting for the audition date, should I enroll in other
classes?
A7: Absolutely. Enroll in other general and Commercial
Music classes as early as possible. Do not wait until after
auditions; classes fill up quickly.
Q8:
Why do I need to enroll in both Audio I and II in a single semester.
A8: Audio classes are in "express" format, which means each class
is 8 weeks long. Audio II begins immediately following Audio I.
