    Collin College is very proud of its students, faculty and staff as well as the many achievements they earn over the year. This site highlights some of the awards, honor and other accomplishments that champion the college's core values.

    Recent Additions

    Janet Sheppard, associate dean of Continuing Education, was recently re-elected to a second two-year term to serve as a Director on the National Council for Continuing Education and Training (NCCET) Board. She is one of seven regionally elected board members from across the United States. In addition to being re-elected to this position, Sheppard was asked by the executive board to take a leadership role in assisting in developing its long-range strategic plan. - Faculty and Staff Appointments

    Global EDGE hosted its third annual Careers on Wheels day May 15 with more than 450 middle school students in attendance at Preston Ridge Campus where they visited with businesses and had the opportunity of some hands on activities. - College Milestones

    The Central Park Campus library building opened in June 2009. It totals 74,000 square feet of library, classrooms, office space, commons areas and the Central Perks Café. - College Milestones

    Collin College’s Preston Ridge Campus hosted a Certified Tourism Ambassador workshop in June 2009 presented by Karen Musa, chair of the Institute for Hospitality and Culinary Education, and Jennifer Kimble, Frisco Tourism and Convention Services manager. The class was attended by Frisco Mayor Maher Maso, Frisco Chamber of Commerce President Tony Felker, a Frisco police officer, members of the Frisco Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the executive chef at Randy’s Steakhouse, a concierge at a local hotel and several Collin College hospitality students. - College Milestones

    Marty Berryman on being selected as the NJCAA Region V Coach of the Year. - Individual Honors

    Dr. Nell Ard, RN, CNE, has been selected for induction into the National League for Nursing’s Academy of Nursing Education. She joins the academy’s 65 fellows representing nursing schools and programs throughout the United States. - Individual Honors

    Dr. R. Flowers Rivera, professor of English, was awarded the Leo Love Merit Scholarship in Poetry by the Taos Summer Writes Conference in association with the University of New Mexico. - Individual Honors

    Collin College’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) won two awards home from the SIFE United States Regional Competition in Philadelphia. They were second runner-up in the opening round and named National Rookie of the Year. This positioned Collin College SIFE as a top-12 community college team nationally. - Outstanding Students

    Ashley Parivar was crowned Miss Texas United States 2009. - Outstanding Students

    Hospitality-culinary arts students Maite Palma, Cindy Cash and Barbara McCauley have earned the designation of Certified Tourism Ambassador. - Outstanding Students

    Collin College took home two Successful Transfer Enhancement Programs (STEP) awards for its pre-admission program at the Texas Transfer Success Conference May 22. The program won bronze in both the Student Services and Development and Collaboration Between Two- and Four-Year Colleges categories. - College Honors

    Collin College President Cary Israel was recently awarded the prestigious Special Award of Merit from the Plano Chamber of Commerce. - College Honors
