Professor Charlie Freeman
Artist Bio
Charlie Freeman's teachers were Ansel Adams, Wynn Bullock, Eikoh Hosoe, Lucien Clergue,
and Jack Welpott. From these contacts he developed his own style concerned with light,
emotion, and storytelling. His Masters study consisted of portraits that demonstrated
the effect of thoughts on facial structure. The study involved psychology theory,
anthropology studies and photography.
Charlie's professional career covers over 20 years in advertising, fashion and conceptual images. He currently directs TV commercials and films. He has received the Athena Award from the American Association of Advertising Agencies for the best full page four color ad of the year. He has been published in Communication Arts multiple times and the Japan Creators Annual. He is currently shooting a book of images of ballet dancers.
