Born: Wichita Falls, Texas, 1952

Photographer Gary McCoy is a location specialist who has traveled extensively to capture dynamic imagery for a variety of clients for over 30 years. His photographs have been selected for recognition by Communication Arts, The New York Art Directors' Club, The American Institute of Graphic Arts, Graphis, Printing Industries of America, Houston Art Directors Club, Fort Worth Ad Club and The Dallas Society of Visual Communications.

Gary received his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a past president of the Dallas Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers. He has been an associate professor of photography at Collin County Community College since 1994 and has lectured at Southern Methodist University and the Dallas Art Institute.

He published a selection of infra-red, black and white landscapes from the southwestern United States in his first book, CACTI. He was commissioned by XTO Energy Corporation to depict the diversity of people and landscapes of their continent-wide operating areas. This project resulted in a portfolio of richly-textured, black and white photographs from Alaska's Kenai peninsula to east Texas swamps. He is well-known for his photography of Pegasus, the historic flying red horse and official symbol of the City of Dallas, and for working closely with the Pegasus Project during the restoration of the iconic structure in downtown Dallas.
