for the National Council of Teachers of English.

Bobbie Long, director of the
Central Park Campus library, will serve on the Regional Advisory
Committee to the South Central Region of the National Network
of Libraries of Medicine, as the only community college representative
on a committee that will include primarily librarians and library
directors from Schools of Medicine and associated universities.

Leslie Thetford, Fire Science /EMS Operations specialist, served as chair for the Angel League Athletics Association of Texas, president of the Collin County 4-H Adult Leaders Association, president of the Collin County 4-H Livestock Association, District 4 voting delegate for Collin County 4-H, club manager for McKinney 4-H Club and treasurer for the McKinney ISD FFA Parents and Friends Booster Club.

Karen Musa, chair of Hospitality and Foodservice Management, was named to the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation Board and the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association Education Board.

Debra Lamb, advisor, served as chair for the Business and Professional Women National Task Force for CampBPW, a program for at-risk girls. She also served as the fundraising chair for the Business and Professional Women state and Dallas region organizations.

Mary McRae, vice president of student development, was selected as a member of the Plano Chapter of the National Charity League.

Nichole Berry, reference librarian at the Spring Creek Campus, was named as the community college representative to the Texas State Library's TexShare Education Services Working Group. The group advices the Texas State Library on information literacy and staff development needs among TexShare member libraries.

Brenda Carter, dean of academic affairs at the Central Park Campus, was named to the city of McKinney Community Grants Advisory Commission.

Elaine Wilkinson, chair and professor of child development and education, was appointed by the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC) to do peer training. The appointment entails visiting other two-year college child development programs and evaluating them for NAEYC accreditation.

Dr. Janet Jaworski, executive director of the Global EDGE, was nominated and elected to a two-year term as the Southwest Regional Director of Tech Prep for the National Association for Tech Prep Leaders (NATPL) at the National Career Pathways Network Conference in Louisville.

The North Central Texas Workforce Development Board re-elected Dr. Toni Jenkins, executive vice president, to serve on the executive committee as secretary in September 2007. Dr. Jenkins was first appointed to the board in 2002 and is now serving a second term as secretary.
