was appointed to the National Council of Teachers of English/SLATE
steering committee on Social and Political Concerns.
Bobbie Long, director of the Central Park Campus library, will serve on the Regional Advisory Committee to the South Central Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, as the only community college representative on a committee that will include primarily librarians and library directors from Schools of Medicine and associated universities. She also served as the fundraising chair for the Business and Professional Women state and Dallas region organizations. The group advices the Texas State Library on information literacy and staff development needs among TexShare member libraries. The appointment entails visiting other two-year college child development programs and evaluating them for NAEYC accreditation.
