The Registrar's Office certifies credit earned on a CLEP Subject Examination. As of July 1, 2001, the passing score for CLEP exams are listed on the chart below. A passing score of 50 does not apply to, or affect any, CLEP exams taken before July 1, 2001. CLEP exams are given by appointment only. For an appointment call the Central Park Campus testing Center (McKinney) at 972-548-6849, the Preston Ridge Campus Testing Center (Frisco) at 972-377-1523, or the Spring Creek Campus Testing Center (Plano) at 972-881-5922.

• A student does not have to be currently enrolled at Collin to take these exams.
   
• Listed below are the CLEP Subject Examinations in which a student may receive credit at Collin. The fee is payable by credit card (preferred method), check or money order made out to CLEP for each examination. For current fee please contact the Testing Center.
   
• Students must contact the institution they are planning to attend for its requirements regarding CLEP.

The Subject Examination in Freshman College Composition also has a 90-minute essay section, which is required by some colleges. Students must check with the institution that they are planning to attend for its requirements. Collin requires the essay section. If the essay section is attempted, the score will be weighted as follows:

• Essay section:               70 percent
• Multiple-choice section:  30 percent 

Note: Students must contact the Director of Testing in order to receive credit for any CLEP, Advanced Placement Examination or departmental exam.
