Students wishing to receive Veteran Education benefits at CCCCD should submit all documentation to the Financial Aid/Veterans Affairs Office as early as possible. Failure to have all necessary documentation on file can delay processing for up to a year, after which no certification will be issued.
There is no guarantee that a student can be certified by CCCCD prior to a degree plan being written, and thus it is important to have a degree plan on file prior to registration. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that the CCCCD program they choose is approved for education benefits and that the program requires the classes for which they register. Additionally, the student must notify the VA and the Certifying Official in writing as to which CCCCD program they initially plan to pursue and any changes in program. This is accomplished by the completion and submission of the appropriate VA form to the Certifying Official. A student may not receive benefits for more than one degree program at a time. Classes for which the student registers that are not on the approved CCCCD degree plan will not be certified with the VA and will result in a lower level of payment. Classes that are recommended or suggested by the catalog or academic advisor, but not required to graduate from CCCCD will not be certified. An official copy of a student's degree plan can be obtained from the Admissions Department or from any CCCCD Financial Aid Office. Courses taken to meet the requirements of another institution cannot be certified by CCCCD.
