CCCCD
OFFERS FIRST-GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENT GRANTS
March 5, 2004 - The Global EDGE Tech Prep Consortium at
Collin County Community College District received a $30,000
grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to
provide supplemental scholarships and assistance to first-generation
college students. Eligible students may receive up to $500
to cover the costs of books, child care, personal expenses
and transportation--costs that might otherwise prevent them
from completing their college education. Grant money may not
be used for tuition or fees. Funding remains available to
eligible students through June 2004.
Eligible
students must be in good standing, they must be enrolled full-time
at CCCCD, and they must be first-generation college students.
Students who fit this description and who are in need of such
supplemental assistance may contact Roberta Jackson, assistant
director of the CCCCD Global EDGE Tech Prep Consortium, at
972-548-6737.
